Their gloves obviously took advantage of the extra rest, as did the pitching.&nbsp; The team played incredible defense all day, which is becoming a bit of a regular occurrence on Sundays.&nbsp; With clutch hitting that at times left the population of Rhode Island on base and rock solid glove work the girls posted victories of 2-0, 7-2 and a 3-0 shutout in the championship game against a stingy North Jersey Jaguar defense. It was one of the longest weekends for softball but one I am sure the girls will not soon forget.&nbsp; They can now add NSA New Jersey State Champions to their growing accomplishments, and I am sure this is just the tip of the iceberg for this exciting group of young ladies.</p><p align="center"> </p><p align="center"><img src="http://www.centraljerseylightning.com/pics/117/DSC02417.JPG" alt="" /></p><p align="justify">Congratulations to the of the Eye Of The Storm 2009 PONY Qualifier Champions! In the finals the Lightning held off several threats by the Host Hamilton Hurricanes, thanks to great pitching and a defensive clinic to take a hotly contested 2-1 decision.</p><p align="left">Congratulations Ladies you earned it!</p><br />
